Modern Browser Development Timeline

I recently put together a timeline of release dates for the major browser versions because I needed a quick reference to help with browser support. • Internet Explorer 6 was released on August 27, 2001.
  • Internet Explorer 7 was released on October 18, 2006.

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox version numbers are virtually meaningless since they release about every 6 weeks or so. Safari and Internet Explorer are supported by their respective operating systems, and their updates usually coincide with new versions of the OS.
